Frequently Asked Questions

TripletsQ1. How long should I retain a Newborn Specialist?

The duration of time the Newborn Specialist is in your home will be your decision. Sometimes a Newborn Specialist comes in to help after other family members leave or a spouse returns to work. Your Newborn Specialist will work with you to develop a schedule that benefits you. Only you will know your needs, and only after your baby arrives. Typically, 10 days to two weeks is a nice start. Families with preemies or multiples tend to need help for longer.

Q2. What are the duties of a Newborn Specialist?

The predominate role of a Newborn Specialist is to provide care for the baby during the post-delivery recovery period and initiate a schedule for your baby which you can continue after her departure. In addition, your Newborn Specialist will act as a teacher and coach to both Mom and Dad during this new and exciting time. Your Newborn Specialist can be waiting for you and your new arrival upon the homecoming from the hospital, or can accompany you from the hospital, it's up to you.

TripletsQ3. Who chooses overnight services?

Overnight services are especially used in the case of preemies, twins, triplets and more. All new families can benefit from using overnight services. Having someone snuggle and care for your baby (or babies) during the night allows you to get the rest you need to recover. Almost all parents, even those who have family help, usually need some type of overnight assistance from outside sources.

Q4. What if I plan on breast feeding?

Depending on certain factors, an overnight service may be very beneficial. The Newborn Specialist will change your baby, bring her to you to feed, then burp and soothe her back to sleep. This will allow you to relax and fall back to sleep with out ever having to leave your bed. Rest is the most important part of your recovery and the more you get the quicker you will feel like yourself again.

TripletsQ5. Why should I retain the services of a Newborn Specialist?

A Newborn Specialist will provide top-quality care for your baby during the first few days or weeks of life and enable you to rest after delivery. Delivering and caring for a newborn can be overwhelming as well as exciting. A Newborn Specialist will guide you through those first days and nights and help you feel comfortable with the care of your newborn. She will also be available to answer questions and step in with full care while you rest.
